Tour the World

Passport ClubInformation for Passport Club was submitted by Mrs. Aradine. Geography is an important part of our world. Fifth graders are encouraged to reach for Level 5.

What is Passport Club?
Study Prezis

The level in which they participate is entirely up to each individual student, their family, and often their teacher.
Passport Club is a parent-run, PTO-funded geography program in many elementary schools.  One Wednesday each month, children have the opportunity to show their knowledge of where 5-25 countries are located on the map.  Today, your student is bringing home two maps.  Please keep the blank map to help with studying for the entire year.  The other map contains the names of the places to study for our first Passport Club test date on September 24.
In the future, the next month’s map will be handed out when your child is tested on the current month.
In September, students study continents, bodies of water and other map basics.  All other months focus on locations of specific countries.  Please help your child decide which level of study is most appropriate for them (students can change the level they wish to study from month to month).  Our goal this year is for every child to be able to successfully complete Level One each month!
Extra maps for the current month are located on the Passport bulletin board just inside the main school doors.
The Levels
Level One:  Learn the locations of 5 new countries each month.
Level Two:  Learn the Level One countries as well as 5 additional countries for a total of 10 countries.
Level Three:  Same as Level Two with 5 additional countries for a total of 15 countries.
Level Four:  Same as Level Three with 10 additional countries for a total of 25 countries.
Level Five:  Learn all 25 countries for the month as well as the capitals of the 5 Level One countries.
Students who complete Level 4 or Level 5 all year long will know the locations of ALL THE COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD by the end of the year!
If you are able to volunteer to help test on Passport test dates (always a Wednesday morning between 9am and noon, in one hour shifts – no special geography knowledge required!!) please look for the link in the school newsletter directing you to Volunteer Spot to sign up.  Our time slot is 11:36.
Please contact us if you have any questions and GOOD LUCK!!
